GREAT AUTOMATED EQUIPMENT
BUILT BY GREAT PEOPLE
At Sawvel Automation, we have a simple operating philosophy: Bring together the best people and design products that work the way they were meant to work. Deliver them on time, use quality parts, and stand behind everything you do.
A PHILOSOPHY THAT HAS WORKED SINCE 1976
While working as an engineer, Tom realized that dairy plants needed a better way to put their product into containers. There were few options and they were expensive, poorly constructed, or consumed too much floor space. He started developing designs and connected with plastic container suppliers to promote his ideas. The 7th design was the lucky one. He built the model 700 and drove it to 6 different plants that tested the machine in their production lines.
Eventually, Sailor Plastics introduced him to Fairmont Foods in Moorhead Minnesota where the 1st machine was installed. He used the profits to invest in a 4 car garage to scale the business. He and his wife Arlene grew the company together and continued to introduce new equipment designs until his son, Troy, took over the business on 01/01/01. He still stops into the office every week and enjoys hearing how Troy continues to serve some of the same customers deploying new styles of packaging.
AND CONTINUES TODAY…
In 1978 Troy joined the company to help Tom build the growing backlog of equipment. It was a lot of fun! Over the years of working with his father he learning every aspect of the business the old fashion way. He helped build the 10 machines ordered by Sealright (Huhtamaki) in the 80’s. This partnership allowed the company to expand into an industrial office building and hire a larger staff. Troy has committed his life to taking the company to the next level.
He proudly leads a team of engineers and mechanics many of whom have been with the company for more than 10 years. Under his leadership, the company’s products have continued to evolve helping customers tackle new packaging challenges. Troy’s team services and supports every model deployed in the field no matter when it was purchased.
In 2008, he joined the 200 MPH club riding his beloved Honda cbr1100XX turbo charged motorcycle while competing at the Texas Mile. Troy posted a best run of 201.78 mph after a standing start one mile run!
